Frontend Engineer (React / TypeScript, Accessibility)

Requirements:
  • 5+ years in frontend development with strong React and TypeScript.
  • Deep accessibility expertise (WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA, React Aria, testing with screen readers and keyboard, not only automated checkers).
  • Responsive, multi-breakpoint layouts.
  • Experience integrating complex REST and OpenAPI backends.
  • Data visualisation and maps with clustering.
  • Reverse proxy or Next.js BFF experience.
  • Discipline around high test coverage (unit and end-to-end).
  • Strong English and direct client communication.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Utilities or metering domain (AMI and AMR).
  • Figma-to-code and design-system component work.
  • nginx configuration.
  • Multi-tenant or white-label theming architecture.
Responsibilities:
  • Implement the three deliverables against their acceptance criteria.
  • Build persona-aware data scoping (enterprise, single-site and portal views) and metering-profile-aware navigation.
  • Build the map-first reverse-flow drill-down with cluster and meter-level detail.
  • Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA on every surface, tested with a screen reader and keyboard.
  • Set up the reverse proxy or BFF. Keep Snyk SAST, dependency scans and end-to-end tests green with 100% coverage.
  • Deliver Figma-compatible design patterns.
  • Open pull requests to the client-owned repository.
  • Present weekly demos and document decisions.

About the project:
Four-week fixed-price proof of concept implementing a refreshed front-end slice for an enterprise utilities web platform. It delivers a persona-aware multi-property dashboard, metering-profile-aware navigation (AMI and AMR), and a map-first drill-down for reverse-flow (water main break) detection. Built on a fixed React, TypeScript and React Aria stack with a reverse proxy (nginx or a Next.js BFF), against existing services and mocked aggregation endpoints in client-provisioned ephemeral AWS environments with synthetic data. Weekly demos, with pull requests merged by the client team.
